Have you been designated as the Fire Warden at your workplace?
Would you like to be designated the Fire Warden but feel you lack the confidence or skills to perform the role?
Are you in charge of appointing Fire Wardens in your workplace but feel the candidates lack the necessary skills to perform the role and so worry about appointing someone unsuitable?
Well, there is good news.
There is now official training available for Fire Wardens!
The title of the course may sound a bit daunting – “Operate as part of an Emergency Control Organisation”! But it really just means ‘Fire Warden Training’.
The course code is PUAFER005.
What is covered in Fire Warden training?
The Fire Warden training we offer at Results First Aid covers all the key roles and responsibilities of the Fire Warden & Chief Fire Warden including dealing with the following:
WH&S Requirements
Emergency evacuations
Raising alarms
Pre-planning for emergencies
Understanding different procedures
Understanding human behaviour
Communication issues during emergencies
The training is designed to equip you or your staff with the necessary skills to competently act as a Fire Warden or Chief Fire Warden.
What is the standard governing the course?
Our Fire Warden training course meets Australian Standard AS 3745:2010.
It is designated as training to operate as part of an Emergency Control Organisation (ECO) because during an emergency such as a fire, there needs to be designated people who play important roles to control the staff in any workplace during that emergency.
In effect whoever was the “manager” of the business is no longer effectively “in charge” during an emergency, as that role reverts to the Fire Warden and any other appointed staff members. So it’s a temporary organisation that operates during the emergency, after which control of the organisation reverts back to management.
If you work in or operate a high-risk environment, you may require additional or specialised training. Please speak to the team at Results First Aid to discover whether or not this may apply to your workplace.
Course pre-requisites
There are no set pre-requisites for this course, however it would be assumed that if the person attending was being considered for a Fire Warden’s role or was already in one, they would need to have the following skills in order to attend the course:
